Markwell Funeral Home cares about the armed forces and those who’ve served our country. Back in July, the local funeral home honored veterans, Shriners, and their families at a Fourth of July luncheon. The event was very successful, with more than 175 meals served.
And this November, Markwell Funeral Home is partnering with Greenwell Funeral Home to sponsor a Veterans’ Appreciation Dinner to celebrate everything these men and women have done to protect the United States.
On this upcoming Veterans Day on Wednesday, November 11, veterans are invited to the Casey VFW on 300 South Central Avenue for a dinner in their honor. It’s free to veterans and they are encouraged to bring a guest with them. To reserve a spot, they can call (217) 932-2131.
This is one of many events that Markwell Funeral Home participates in to give back to the community. Other events include the Dine with a Doc Program, where Markwell sponsors a lunch every other month for older residents and provides them with important information regarding their health. The funeral home also helps put on the Senior Citizen Prom every summer to engage senior citizens for a night of socializing and fun.
Like Markwell Funeral Home, the Casey VFW is also heavily involved with the Casey community. They hold Wednesday Wing Nights, noodle dinners, and other events for locals to enjoy.
Markwell encourages veterans to join us this Veterans Day for this special event in their honor. Call (217) 932-2131 to make a reservation. We hope to see you there!
