Markwell Funeral Home staff members Dee Partlow, Millie Malone, and Bill Williams recently sponsored a luncheon for residents of Fayette County Hospital and Long Term Health Care on Thursday, October 1.
The group of 15 residents traveled more than an hour from Vandalia, Illinois to Casey, Illinois for a day of sightseeing in the town that has everything from an annual popcorn festival to landmark events like state horse shoe tournaments.
In addition to these happenings, Casey, which boasts the slogan “Big Things in a Small Town,” also offers these distinctions that the Fayette County Hospital residents got to experience:
While the cooler fall temperatures prevented the crew from having a picnic, it didn’t stop them from having fun. The Casey White Oak Church of God donated their facility for lunch, which included fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green beans, applesauce, hot rolls, and tea and lemonade. Markwell Funeral friend Ruth Beasley made delicious angel food cake and white cake for the group, as well!
It was a great experience to show these nearby neighbors everything Casey has to offer and to share some hospitality.
