On Saturday, March 26, 2016, the annual Easter in the Park event was held at the Casey Fairview Park starting at 10 a.m., and it was holiday fun for the whole family. Just as in past years, Markwell Funeral Home helped sponsor the event, with staff members like licensed funeral director and embalmer Millie Malone on hand to help with the festivities.
Millie Malone, who is not only the secretary of the Casey Chamber of Commerce but also chair of the annual event, worked tirelessly with fellow chamber members including Sarah Mosier, Melinda Stutesman, Teresa Vernon, and Penny Huddlestun.
More than 200 children participated in the event at Casey Fairview Park, with more than 2,000 eggs collected by participants.
The age groups for the egg hunt were:
Inside the eggs included treats like candy, gum, stickers, bible verses, $1 coins, and ice cream coupons. Not only did the children get to hunt for Easter eggs, but they also got to visit with the Easter Bunny himself, who was present for photos with all children and adults.
And some lucky egg recipients got something extra special. Twenty of the eggs had numbers correlated to Easter baskets stuffed with goodies donated by local churches and businesses including Markwell Funeral Home. Plus, there were four bicycles raffled off by First Neighbor Bank.
And just because it was an event for the kids didn’t meant the parents couldn’t get in on the action. There were also tickets for an adult Easter basket available for purchase, so there was fun for everyone in the family.
Markwell Funeral Home was honored to be a part of this community event once again and looks forward to the next Easter egg hunt in 2017.
