The Casey Popcorn Festival, located in Fairview Park, is an annual event that takes place over the 3-day Labor Day weekend. A great way to say “goodbye” to Summer and “hello” to Fall, the Popcorn Festival is the epitome of family fun. You and your family can enjoy a carnival with kids’ rides, entertainment for all ages, food and craft vendors, musical shows, a car show, and, of course, tons of free popcorn!

2. Jasper County Strawberryfest

Another great annual festival is located in nearby Jasper County. The Jasper County Strawberryfest is a two-day event held the weekend after Memorial Day. Your family will enjoy craft booths, food vendors, live entertainment, local performers, a parade, and kids’ shows. There is plenty to keep the kids entertained all weekend with traditional carnival games, water games, and inflatable jungle gyms. Did we mention the ice cream booth that not only offers several flavors of ice cream, but also floats and strawberry shortcake, too?

3. Douglas-Hart Nature Center

Looking for some outdoor fun for the whole family? The Douglas Hart Nature Center, just about 40 miles northwest of Casey, is 65 acres of woodland, wetland, and prairie. The nature center is open weekdays from 8am to 4pm, 10am to 4pm on Saturdays, and 1pm to 4pm on Sundays, and the nature trails are open everyday from sunup to sundown. The trails are stroller accessible and wind through the prairie, pond, wetlands, and forest.

Some of the other nature center attractions include a butterfly garden, bird garden, windmill, nature play area, a garden and greenhouse, and dragonfly pond.

4. Mill Creek Lake and Park

Mill Creek Lake and Park is another great place for outdoor adventure with the family. From boating and fishing to hiking trails and cabin rentals, Mill Creek Park is a perfect place for a weekend getaway right in your own backyard!

At Mill Creek Lake and Park, you and your family can:

• Rent a cabin
• Rent a shelter with picnic tables and a grill
• Rent a boat and go fishing
• Enjoy the many ATV, hiking, and horse trails

5. World’s Largest: Wind Chime, Golf Tee, Knitting Needles

Casey, Illinois boasts several Guinness World Records in the “world’s largest” category. Visiting these landmarks would make for a fun family day in the Casey/Westfield area.

• The World’s Largest Wind Chime is located at 109 East Main Street and stands over 55 feet tall!
• Casey is also home to the World’s Largest Golf Tee. Located at the Casey Country Club, the golf tee weighs 6,659 pounds and is more than 30 feet tall.
• Finally, you can find the World’s Largest Knitting Needles and Crochet Hook at The Yarn Studio on East Main Street. Each knitting needle is over 13 feet long and the crochet hook measures over 6 feet in length.
